Roanoke, VA -A Lynchburg Public Schools teacher and a Roanoke County teacher have received recognition for excellence in educating students.
Earth and Physical Science teacher Thomas Foster of Dunbar Middle School won the 2012 McGlothlin Awards for Teaching Excellence.
First grade teacher Katherine Lear of Penn Forest Elementary School in Roanoke County was the other award winner.
They each get $25,000. The awards are given annually by the McGlothlin Foundation of Bristol, Virginia.
The teachers must use $10,000 of the award for international travel and then apply that experience to enrich their teaching.
