Lynchburg, VA - A Hollywood celebrity is pairing up with the sheriff of Bedford County to raise awareness for child sex crimes.
Actor Erik Estrada appeared with Sheriff Mike Brown in Lynchburg Wednesday to promote the new film "Finding Faith." It's based on many real-life events that the sheriff has experienced while trying to protect children online.
Thomas Road Baptist Church is sponsoring and lending its facilities to the film.
Producers hope to use as much local talent as possible, and Estrada says the message is important.
"People have no clue what's going on on the Internet. In a matter of five minutes, your child could be gone, set-up, groomed by someone on the other side of that computer," said Estrada.
"It's the greatest communications medium that we will ever seen, but it has a dark side and it's getting darker and darker," said Brown.
Brown and Estrada have spent the last eight years working together to combat child sex crimes. The last local casting call for their movie is April 28.
