Take the "Clean Commute" Challenge in Lynchburg

Lynchburg, VA - With gas prices as high as they are, Lynchburg officials are really hoping you'll consider a challenge next month.

The "Clean Commute Challenge" is part of Lynchburg Area Bike Week.  It's scheduled for May 14th through the 18ths.

The goal is to find an alternative way to get to and from work, whether that's biking, carpooling or taking the bus.  They've even set up a couple of "Park and Ride" lots for people to use.

Organizer Kelly Hitchcock hopes the challenge will help change the way some people view transportation.

"Recognizing… can you use an alternative transportation means every day.  Probably not.  But can you do it once or twice a week or once or twice a month?" said Hitchcock.

You can take the challenge as an individual or as a group.
