Lynchburg - Regular season champion Lynchburg beat Hampden-Sydney 8-1 in Thursday's first game of the ODAC Tournament at Calvin Falwell Field.
The Hornets broke open a 1-all game with four runs in the fifth, then added three more in the seventh. Michael Del Buono drove in two runs, Dan Savage also had two rbi, Savage went 3-for-3 on the day. That was more than enough for Lynchburg starter Robert Garrett who goes the distance, scattering eight hits and allowing just one run.
Lynchburg advances to a winner's bracket game on Friday.
