Lynchburg, VA - Residents attended a fundraiser at Boonsboro County Club for the Patient Support Fund at Centra.
This morning's ceremony kicked off the fifth annual Sara Buckley Pink Tennis Invitational. The fundraiser has currently raised more than $70,000 for the fund, which is a huge help for cancer patients.
Buckley lost her fight with breast cancer five years ago. Her friends and family think it's fitting to hold a tennis tournament in her memory.
"She stilled played tennis despite having stage four breast cancer, always with a smile on her face. She fought breast cancer so hard and ultimately died after a five year battle with breast cancer, " said organizer Sarah Dunlop.
Donations fund everything from transportation to the hospital to prescriptions and wigs for patients.
