LYNCHBURG - So long to the long ball. Hillcats catcher Evan Gattis has been called up to Double-A Mississippi.
It's well deserved. He was hitting .385 with a league leading 9 homers and 29 RBIs for the Atlanta Braves advanced-A affiliate.
An official transaction has not been made but Hillcats Director of Broadcasting Erik Wilson said, "He is not physically here. He is on a flight to Mobile, Alabama."
The Mississippi Braves open up a road series against Mobile Tuesday.
The Hillcats open a 6-game homestand Monday night against the Carolina Mudcats.
