Lynchburg, VA - Dunbar Middle School's opening night of "Roald Dahl's Willie Wonka" nearly had a packed house. The students have been rehearsing the show for weeks, perfecting every line and note. And for good reason. There were several special audience members in attendance tonight... among them, the co-author of the show itself.
He says it's a treat to see his show performed by kids. "When you see kids saying lines, and enacting scenes, and singing music that you wrote. It's really life changing. Because you realize what it means to them and what it means to you. But when you add kids to the mix theatre really becomes live. Because you have no idea what's going to happen. But it's always extraordinary, and it always ends with a standing ovation," said Willie Wonka Co-Author Tim McDonald.
If you'd like to see the show you can still catch a performance this weekend.
