Lynchburg, VA - Mental Health America of Central Virginia held its annual walk in Lynchburg Sunday. It's the group's 12th annual event, and they're hoping to raise $20,000.

About 200 people took part in the two and a half mile walk on Rivermont Ave. This year's theme is 'Do More for One in Four.' One in four people will be diagnosed with a mental illness at some point in their lives.

"One of the things I think that people don't know is that in Central Virginia we have a higher than average suicide rate. That startles a lot of folks, because it's a beautiful place to live, and it's one of the reasons that we have a grant for the Virginia Department ofHealth to provide a suicide prevention program," said Elizabeth Webb, Executive Director Mental Health America of Central Virginia.

Mental Health America also provides screenings and support for those struggling with mental health. If you'd like to learn more go here: http://www.mhacv.org/
