Ringgold - This week's ABC 13 high school Team of the Week is Dan River softball.
The Wildcats are 14-and-4 on the season and first place in the Dogwood District at 9-and-1, a half-game ahead of Appomattox. A big key for Dan River has been solid hitting and scoring plenty of runs. The Wildcats' next game is Friday at 6 at Altavista.
Melanie Gilbert, DAN RIVER SOFTBALL COACH, said "I have had these group of juniors now for three years and they have come together so well and things just seem to be falling in order for us."
Rhyan Scearce, WILDCATS SENIOR LEFT FIELDER - "We know that this is our year and we know that we have a team that can really make something happen. So we decided that it's crunch time and we needed to get down and start doing the things that we needed to do, so we pulled it together. "
