Botetourt Co., VA - A Virginia Tech student is in the hospital after wrecking while heading home for the summer.
State police say 18-year-old Alyssa Wheeler was heading home to Stafford Wednesday when around 5:30 p.m., she ran off I-81 near mile marker 153 and into a ditch.
Her car continued into the median, hit a parked piece of paving equipment and overturned.
Wheeler is listed in serious condition this noon at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Police say she was wearing a seatbelt.
