Lynchburg, VA - Early Sunday morning, hundreds of cyclists took off on a nice long bike ride for the third annual Storming of Thunder Ridge Charity.
The Ride started and ended at the Jamerson YMCA. Cyclists had the option of taking a 45, 75 or a 100 mile course. This is the first year they offered a shorter 27 mile course.
The money raised will go to the local YMCA's community support campaign.
The event director says this is mission that's close to her heart.
"This is my passion, I have a passion for cycling and I have a passion for the Y and when you can mix those two it's just unstoppable I'm getting teary eyed because it's just awesome," said Paula Dahl, Event Director.
A smaller portion of the proceeds will go to the Dr. John Bell memorial fund to add share the road signs in the Lynchburg area.
Last year they raised $11,000, this year, Paula says, they probably doubled that.
