Pittsylvania Co., VA - Officials say the person who died in the accident on Route 29 in Pittsylvania County is 63-year-old Michael Eanes of Callands, Virginia.
Update 6:15 p.m.:
Pittsylvania Co., VA - Officials say the Pittsylvania County sheriff's deputy involved in the fatal car accident on Route 29 Monday is T.R. Moore.
State police say Moore was driving north on Route 29 when he hit a black Ford Ranger pulling out of Chatham Family Medical Center.
The deputy was driving in the left lane and did not see the truck pull out.
The driver of the pickup truck was killed in the accident, and crews had to work to remove his body from the vehicle.
Deputy Moore was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
One lane of 29 northbound was closed while crews cleaned up the wreck.
Pittsylvania Co., VA – One man is dead after a car accident involving a sheriff's deputy Monday morning.
Officials with state police say a pickup truck driver pulled out in front of a police cruiser on Route 29 near Chatham Family Medical Center in Tightsqueeze. They say the driver of the truck was killed.
EMS crews took the deputy to the hospital and we're told the deputy is expected to be okay.
