God's Pit Crew Volunteer Remembers Joplin Last Year

Danville, VA -- A year ago Tuesday Joplin, Missouri experienced a horrific tornado that took 161 lives. Immediately after the destruction, God's Pit Crew in Danville took volunteers and supplies to help with the relief efforts.

David Willis has been going to disaster areas for over a decade, and he said that Joplin was one of the worst he has ever seen. He remembers seeing the hospital missing the top two floors and schools flattened. He said that what he saw there will stick with him for the rest of his life.

"So many people effected, so many people were injured and died there that your heart had to go out to the people in that area. Like most disasters people pulled together," said Willis.

God's Pit Crew is not done in Joplin. They plan to send more volunteers to help in just a couple of weeks.
