Lynchburg, VA - If you've suffered the loss of a family pet, now you can get a proper memorial for it.
Diuguid Funeral Home in Lynchburg is hosting a memorial service next month to honor pets that have died.
Right now, they're working on a slide show with pictures of the pets that people have sent in so far. It will be included in the service at the funeral home's chapel on Wiggington Road. There will also be guest speakers, a candlelight service and a balloon release.
"Families have a process to grieve when they lose a loved one. We have a funeral service, a memorial service, visitations, pastoral follow up and so forth, but when we lose a pet we don't have anything usually so we feel like we need to provide that to our public," said managing partner Dan Mason.
Anyone is welcome to attend the service on June 10 at 3 p.m. The service will be held at the funeral home at 811 Wiggington Rd.
There's still time to submit pictures of your deceased pet. You can e-mail your pet's name and photo, breed, the owner's name, address and phone number to firstname.lastname@example.org.
