More Rustburg Athletes Headed for College Sports

Rustburg -   Rustburg High School honored three more student-athletes Tuesday morning who've committed to continue their sports careers in college.  Nicole Riley, celebrating her 18th birthday Tuesday, will play softball at Lynchburg College, Oneka Jones will head to Averett for basketball and Marcus Patrick will also play basketball, a preferred walk-on at Virginia Tech, joining teammate Marshall Wood.

Marcus Patrick, HEADED TO VIRGINIA TECH, said "Everybody has told me I couldn't play D-1, I'm too small, like all that.  But I proved 'em wrong, I worked hard and I'm going to Tech now."

Oneka Jones, HEADED TO AVERETT BASKETBALL, said "I didn't think I would continue playing basketball after college, I mean after high school.  But, you know, I'm excited to play, get back on the court again."

Nicole Riley, WILL PLAY SOFTBALL AT L.C., said "I've been knowing that I wanted to play since I was like 12 or 13 that I wanted to go to Lynchburg and play softball, so."
