Farmville, VA - State police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Prince Edward County that left one man dead.
It all started Tuesday at 4:30 when Farmville Police were told to be on the lookout for an armed man.
Officials say the man wasn't supposed to have a gun since he was involved in recent a domestic incident.
State police say when officers stopped the car, the suspect sped off firing a shot at a pursuing officer. The chase continued into Prince Edward County near Hampden Sydney.
Police say that's got out of his car with a handgun. That's when Farmville Police opened fire, along with the suspect.
William A. Wingfield Jr., 45, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say no one else was hurt.
