High Point - Trey Wimmer drove in a season-high four RBI and pitcher John Niggli allowed one run in seven innings as Liberty rolled over Asheville 9-2 in first-round action of the Big South Tournament at High Point.
Alex Close belted a two-run homer, his 13th of the season, breaking LU's freshman record and tying the Big South mark. The Flames will play a winner's bracket game Wednesday night around 7. LU improves to 39-and-18.
Radford also won 8-2 over Gardner-Webb. The Highlanders' Eddie Butler struck out 10 over eight innings. Radford plays Coastal Wednesday afternoon at 4:30.
