Danville, VA - Students in Danville and Pittsylvania County have the chance to apply for a Historical Society scholarship. The society is giving away two $250 scholarships.
The board calls it a book scholarship because it can cover the price of one or more of your textbooks at school. All you need to do to apply is submit a 1,000 word essay on a historical building in the area.
"They don't have to stay in the old west end, typically that's where the historic buildings are but we know they are all over the county they are all over the city and anything that's 1940's or earlier qualifies," said Mandy Matherly Stowe from the Danville Historic Society.
All public and private schools students are encouraged to apply. This is the second year of the scholarships.
