Road Still Closed After Fatal Tanker Accident

Posted:

Montvale, VA - Route 460 eastbound is still closed in the Montvale area after a tanker crash on Monday night.

The eastbound traffic is being diverted into the westbound lane while crews work to clean up the thousands of gallons of fuel that spilled.

Adam Henry, 31, died in the crash. He had served 13 years in the Lyn-Dan Heights Volunteer Fire Department.

The cleanup from the wreck is expected to take weeks.

"There's going to be a lot of work going on…long days, probably 14 hour days for the crews working that are working there to get this wrapped up, and there is a real big safety concern that the citizens and motoring public pay attention to those public safety responders that are out there so we don't have another accident while the work is ongoing," said Chief Jack Jones Jr. with Bedford County Fire and Rescue.

A celebration of Adam's life will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. at Mountain View Church of God. A gathering of family and friends will follow the service at the Lyn-Dan Heights Volunteer Fire Department.
