Officials Investigate Plane Crash in Amherst Co.

Update Monday 11:30 P.m.:

Amherst Co., VA - FAA investigators are expected to be on the scene of an airplane crash in Amherst County Monday.

State police say John Green of Indiana was flying an ultra light aircraft from Charlotte to Pennsylvania. The plane lost power midflight.

Green managed to crash-land in a field about a mile off Route 130.

The aircraft's landing equipment and cockpit were damaged.

Police say Green walked away with minor injuries and did not go to a hospital.

Amherst Co., VA - State Police are investigating an airplane crash that happened Saturday in Amherst County.

Officials say John Green of Zionsville, Indiana was flying an ultralight aircraft from Charlotte, North Carolina to Pennsylvania. The aircraft lost power mid-flight.

Green managed to crash-land it in a field about a mile off Route 130. The aircraft's landing equipment and cockpit were damaged.

Police say Green walked away with minor injuries and did not go to a hospital. FAA investigators will be at the site Monday to further review what happened.
