June 6 marks the 68th anniversary of D-Day, and you can celebrate the special day at the National D-Day Memorial. The memorial in Bedford will have a ceremony at 11 a.m. and tours all day. Admission will be free 10 a.m. until noon. The event pays tribute to the soldiers who took part in the invasion in Normandy.
It should be a really nice weekend, and if you love gardening, there's a great event for you Saturday. A master gardener will be at Poplar Forest to show you how to create gardens that shine in the shade. You can get tips and great advice at 2 p.m. That's free with regular admission. Poplar Forest will host a series of gardening events in the next months.
Also outside—the Endstation Theater presents "The Comedy of Errors." The Shakespearean comedy will be on the grounds of Sweet Briar House June 8 - 10. Lazy Days Winery will also be out there so you can enjoy some wine and bring your own picnic. Tickets are $22 for adults and $15 for students. The play will run through July, so you'll have more opportunities to catch it.
