San Diego, CA - Friends don't want Reuben Johnson to be remembered for the disturbing way his life ended.
His wife, Regina Renee Johnson, is now behind bars, suspected of shooting and killing him and their 14-year-old daughter inside their apartment near San Diego.
The most disturbing part, police say she stayed with their decomposing bodies for up to three days before calling a relative to say her husband and daughter were dead.
Friends say Reuben Johnson grew up in Lynchburg and graduated from E.C. Glass high school before moving away in the 1980's to join the Navy. But he never lost touch with his friends who hoped to meet Johnson's wife at next year's class reunion.
Although police have not released a motive for the murders, media in California are reporting Regina Johnson lost her job just days before the killings.
Friends say Reuben Johnson's adult children from a previous relationship still live in Lynchburg.
Friends remember him as a great father who would do anything for his kids.
