Danville, VA - A man is behind bars in Danville after allegedly reporting a false robbery to police.
Police say Steven Maurise Winston of Clover actually took the money himself.
They tell us that Winston, a delivery driver, said he was stopped in a delivery truck by a man wearing a mask, with a gun.
Police say Winston reported the man took more than $1,200 in cash and then ran off. Investigators say Winston took the money, and they have recovered it all.
Winston has been charged with filing a false police report and grand larceny. He is being held at the Danville City Jail under a $1,500 secured bond.
