Frederick Sweeps Doubleheader over Hillcats


Lynchburg - Frederick took both ends of a doubleheader from the Hillcats Friday night in Lynchburg, beating the 'Cats 5-3 in game one and 1-0 in the nightcap.

      The Hillcats rallied in the final inning of game one, Mycal Jones' rbi single cut it to 5-3.  rd of the year  and Lynchburg pulled within 3-2.

        The Keys' Jeremy Nowak banged out his fourth single of the game in the sixth to run Frederick's lead to 5-2.  Lynchburg rallied the final inning, Mycal Jones' 2-out rbi single cut it to 5-3. Nick Ahmed, who homered in the third, followed with another single.  Tommy La Stella then hit a sharp grounder to second that got away, but Jones stumbled coming around third, he tried to score but was tagged out at the plate for the final out.  Lynchburg was guilty of a couple baserunning blunders.  Frederick won 5-3 in game one, then held the Hillcats to just two hits in a 1-0 victory in the nightcap.  

         Lynchburg falls to 30-and-30 on the season but still leads the Northern Division by two games over Potomac.
