GIRLS TENNIS
BLACKSBURG - The E.C. Glass Hilltoppers met Spotswood in the regional finals last week and won and they did again today.
With Glass up 4 matches to 1 it was up to Ruby Hutchison to clinch the championship with a win in her match, and the number four freshman did just that.
Hutchison's win gave Glass the 5-1 clincher and the Lady Hilltoppers are your 2012 group AA tennis state champs.

BOYS TENNIS
The Glass boys battled Western Albemarle in the final. The Warriors are the team that ousted the Hilltoppers last year in the semis.
State singles champ Cam Scot of Western Albemarle beat Glass's Scottie Taylor 6-3, 6-1 in the number 1 singles, but the HIlltoppers got a straight sets win at number two Wistar Nelligan.
Glass's number 3 Thatcher Jennings capped an unbeaten season in style with a quick 6-love, 6-love win.
With Glass down 3-2, Mitchell Swann picked up a huge win at number 4, rallying from down 2-5 in the first set to win 7-5, then 6-3 in the 2nd. That tied the match 3-all heading to doubles.
The Warriors though won number 1 and 3 doubles to clinch the victory 5-3.
