Altavista, VA - The Altavista community is gearing up for a charity ride to benefit a local soldier who was injured in Afghanistan.
Staff Sergeant Christopher Walker of Altavista was hurt in April in an IED attack.
The event takes place this Saturday, June 16 and is sponsored by Rolling Thunder.
POW MIA WVMC Chapter four of Lynchburg is hosting the ride, which will start in Altavista and end in Buchanan.
Registration starts at 9 a.m. at English Park in Altavista. The cost is $15 per vehicle, and you can bike or drive.
