Danville, VA - Voters took to the polls for primary day Tuesday. Up for grabs was the Republican nominee for Senate, who will run against former Democratic Governor Tim Kaine.
Former Governor George Allen is one of four candidates running.
Voters in the 6th District are choosing their GOP nominee as well as the incumbent in that race is Bob Goodlatte.
Turnout across the state was low, and many voters didn't even know there was an election.
Danville's registrar says she wasn't surprised, given the year's previous primaries.
"We did expect that. After the March Presidential Primary, we had less than a three percent turnout, and I don't expect any more than that for this election, for U.S. Senate," said Danville Registrar Peggy Petty.
