The Lynchburg Hillcats trimmed their magic number to 1 Tuesday night by winning game one of a doubleheader against Carolina in walk-off fashion.
Tied at one, bottom of the seventh, Carolina League All-Star starting second baseman Tommy La Stella belts one to right center off the wall, the speedy La Stella races all the way to third for a leadoff triple, just 90 feet away from a winning run. And the next batter Adam Milligan delivers as he did in the first with an rbi single. This time it's a sac fly to left, plenty deep enough to score La Stella with the winner.
Lynchburg beat Carolina 2-1 in game one setting the stage for game two and a chance to clinch the first-half title with a victory.
