Lynchburg - Today Team of the Week is the Lynchburg Hillcats. The Hillcats clinched the Northern Division first-half title Tuesday night with a doubleheader sweep of the Carolina Mudcats. With game one tied at one in the final inning, Tommy La Stella raced around for a lead-off triple to set the table for Adam Milligan, who had singled in Lynchburg's only run back in the first. This time all he needed was a deep sac fly to left to plate La Stella with the winning run in a 2-1 victory.
Game two, not even a weather delay or 20-minute blackout at the stadium could stop the 'Cats from clinching the title. Already leading 4-1, the Hillcats added four more in the sixth to put it away. The sweep and Lynchburg's fifth straight win gives the 'Cats their first playoff berth since 2009.
Tommy La Stella, HILLCATS ALL-STAR SECOND BASEMAN, said "It's always a great time to be out here with your buddies and make the playoffs and clinch like this and clinch in front of the home crowd, it's definitely special. It's great, I mean it secures your spot in the playoffs (La Stella gets shaving creme in the face)."
