Lynchburg, VA - Governor McDonnell has a challenge for Virginia's business community -- who can raise the most food and money for our food banks? It's called the Governor's Bowl Food and Fund Drive.
Donation bins are set up at participating businesses. The Lynchburg Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting the drive in our area. This one is at Legacy Apartments off Timberlake.
Summer is when food bank shelves start looking empty. Organizers are positive central Virginia will collect a lot of food and maybe even win the Governor's Bowl.
"After July 4th, we'll know how we ranked against other chambers in the state, but I like our odds. We have some very dedicated and involved members and we know that Lynchburg is a giving community," said Mike Lewis with the Lynchburg Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The Governor's Bowl ends on the Fourth of July.
