Lynchburg, VA - A Lynchburg man was arrested Thursday night charged with DUI and reckless driving after police say he was responsible for the crash on Rivermont Avenue.
Witnesses say Dwayne Proffitt was driving a car away from downtown.
Officers say Proffitt was going in excess of 70 miles per hour when he lost control of his car. Proffitt then hit a tree snapping it in half, and then went across two front yards before stopping.
Proffitt was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
