Henry Co., VA - Another fatal crash; this one in Henry County. State Police are investigating the accident that happened on Route 57 approximately 1.5 miles west of Route 609.
Just after 5:15 a.m., Sunday, a trooper spotted a Camaro run a stop sign. The trooper pursued, and officials say a short time later, the suspect's car ran off the right side of the road, overturned and hit a tree.
The driver, Alan Dale Vernon, 55, of Bassett was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. An investigation is underway.
