Lynchburg, VA - Officials broke ground Tuesday on Lynchburg's first universally accessible playground.
Riverside Park is the future site of a playground designed for all children. The new facility will be completely handicap accessible.
The Lynchburg Rotary Club were provided $50,000 for the project. The club undertakes a major project like this every few years.
In August, they will even have a day where club members assist in the construction of the playground.
"It's going to have a piece of playground equipment in the shape of a train, which goes with Riverside Park's entire theme, that kids will be able to climb over, jump things, swing. It will have ramps for wheelchairs. It's absolutely wonderful and it will welcome everyone," said Shannon Watts, the president of the Lynchburg Rotary Club.
The playground is expected to be completed by late August.
