Arrest Made in Danville Bank Robbery


UPDATE June 24, 2012:

Danville, VA - Officials have arrested the man they say robbed a Bank of America in Danville last week.

Police in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina arrested Lawrence Winford Roy Saturday night during a traffic stop.

Roy was arrested as a fugitive from Virginia. He will be extradited.

Danville, VA – Officials with the Danville Police Department have a ball cap they say was worn by a man wanted for a bank robbery Monday.

Officials say the man who robbed the Bank of America on Riverside Drive was wearing the picture ball cap at the time. A motorist found the cap on the side of Martinsville Highway near Avalon Drive Monday night after recognizing it from the surveillance picture from the robbery.

Danville Police are asking that anyone who recognizes the ball cap or knows of any businesses in the region that sells and/or sold one matching the one recently recovered, to contact Danville Crimestoppers at (434) 793-0000 or via our crime tips line on your computer at Information given will remain confidential.

Citizens who contact Crimestoppers by telephone may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.00.
