Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg's Daily Bread has put grant money to good use.
A couple months ago, the Virginia Department of Health awarded the Daily Bread $10,000 to better improve the health of the visitors. This included lowering the amount of sodium used to prepare the food, innovative recipes and blood pressure screenings.
Chefs were trained and the recipes were soon on the serving line.
Officials at the Daily Bread and Department of health agree education is the most important.
"It's really starting at the education awareness level and then showing people, allowing people to taste test it, much like our guests here for them to realize 'Oh, this is really good,'" said Leslie Hoglund, with the VA Department of Health.
The Daily Bread will be typing up all of their recipes and giving them to both guests and volunteers.
