Two Women Die in Accident in Campbell County

Campbell Co., VA - State troopers say two women died Wednesday night in a two-vehicle accident in Campbell County. 

Around 8 p.m., emergency crews responded to the area of Leesville and Sunburst Road where a motorcycle and a SUV were involved in the accident.

Troopers say the motorcycle was going east on Sunburst while the van was going north on Leesville. The SUV hit the motorcycle then the SUV hit a tree and the motorcycle went into a house. 

Troopers say the driver of the SUV, Cheryl Staples, 54, of Forest died at the scene.

The passenger of the SUV, Virginia Layne, 62, of Lynchburg died at Lynchburg General Hospital. 

THe motorcycle driver Edwin Creasey, 20, was taken to Lynchburg General then later flown to UVA for treatment of two broken legs and other injuries. 

Troopers say Creasey faces reckless driving charges.

Around 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, emergency crews responded to the area of Leesville and Sunburst Road. We're told a motorcycle and a van were involved in the accident. Troopers say the motorcycle was going east on Sunburst while the van was going north on Leesville.

Van hit the motorcycle - then the van hit a tree and the motorcycle went into a house. Troopers say the driver of the van died. Crews took the driver of the motorcycle to Lynchburg General Hospital in a helicopter. The passenger of the van was also taken to Lynchburg General. No word on their condition.
