Danville, VA- With all of the recent car accidents involving children, Thursday's Child Safety Seat class at Piedmont Mall was a welcomed sight.
Emergency personnel took part in "Safe Kids" a worldwide organization. After four days of training, they can become National Certified Child Safety Technicians.
"Learning how to recognize misuses, how to recognize nonuse and actually showing, being able to instruct people parents and caregivers on how to properly install a child passenger safety seat" said John Messina, VCU State training coordinator.
"This will actually make the seat slide so that was good to know to not use any padding underneath the seat, and also I had the little padding things on the belt that you can get the cute little animals and they said not to use those either" said Lisa Harrison, a Danville resident.
The main goal of today's class is to prevent injury of a child.
