Rustburg's Clayton Forren won his first round of match play Thursday morning before falling in the quarterfinals at the VSGA Junior Match Play Championship outside of Richmond.

The 16-year-old rising senior at Rustburg, runner-up in this past weekend's Central Virginia Invitational, earned medalist honors and the top seed for match play by firing a 5-under 67 Wednesday for a two-day total of 140.  Thursday morning, Forren easily won 8-and-6 before losing in the quarterfinals Thursday afternoon 3-and-2 to Ashton Newsom of Chesapeake.
