Lynchburg Police Department Gets 12 New Officers

Lynchburg, VA - Twelve new police officers were sworn in to the Lynchburg Police Department Friday.

Most were from the area and say they are eager to serve the community. Each new officer received their side arm from Chief Parks Snead.

Family members pinned on the badge, which they were told to wear with honor. Chief Parks Snead says he has high hopes for the new officers.

"We need to keep our pay up and I'm certainly hoping that our recruiting will pick up a little with our pay increase, but again, regardless of our pay we never take anyone but the finest candidates"

Snead says this is the first class that will see the new officers will see the pay raise in July. He hopes the increase will bring more recruits to the police department.
