Friends Remember Bedford Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash

Community members are remembering a Bedford man killed in a motorcycle accident Friday in Roanoke.

Chris Abbott, 40, crashed his motorcycle into a utility pole at the intersection of Williamson Road and Compton Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Abbott had played in several bands, including Evolution and Fairview Heights. He was very involved in the local music scene.

Friends say they will remember Abbott for his strong passion for music, his skills on the bass guitar and his motorcycle.

"He was just about the music. Every time we talked it was about the bands and his equipments and what else he was getting new and things like that. He was very passionate," said Shawn Kearns, a friend of Abbott.

"He was a really nice guy, a really good friend to all of us. He organized a lot of different concerts around here, lots of shows. He always had a good band just always really put on a great show," said Andy Henson, who knew Abbott since he was 16 years old.

Friends say Abbott loved to rock and roll, and they want to have a concert in his honor later this summer. We'll keep you updated on when the concert will be.

A memorial Facebook page has been set up in honor of Chris Abbott if you'd like to learn more.
