Lynchburg, VA - A California man has made his way to Lynchburg on horseback hoping to bring to light the need for a cure for chronic diseases.
Johnny Warnshuis left Redding, California 14 months ago and has traveled about 4,000 miles. He says he wants to raise awareness for GBS/CIDP, a rare disorder of the body's immune system that attacks the peripheral nerves.
According to his website, this condition happens in only one or two people per 100,000. His mother is one of them. He says she got the disease about a week after getting a flu shot and became paralyzed.
Warnshuis says people need to get involved.
"Get off the couch, go do something. If you can't do something for somebody else...for yourself, do it for somebody else," he said.
