Lynchburg, VA - Some students started their summer camp off by dancing Monday.
It's the first day of Lynchburg City Schools' program called PETAL, an accelerated learning camp for students who do well in the classroom.
Motivational Monday is part of the program where the kids get up and get active.
This year's them is called "Move It," and it goes along with the mayor's live healthy initiative.
A local zumba instructor came in to teach the kids some moves.
"The goal is to get them motivated and get them moving and get them to want to be excellent at what they do and ‘Move It' is to just move it along and keep being positive," said Lucy LeRose, the fitness instructor.
The PETAL program runs through the end of July. About 200 students are participating this year.
