Lynchburg, VA - Major renovations are happening on the Lynchburg College campus right now.
It's a $1.3 million undertaking that includes a $750,000 renovation of Hopwood Hall's auditorium. It's being converted to extra classroom and lecture space.
Crews are also expanding the size of the school's walk-in freezer. They say it will allow about 90 % more storage space once it's done. And that's not all.
"There's minor construction going on all over the place. We've done a lot of painting. I think we painted like 40 houses this summer already. We have a student crew and a staff crew that are doing painting," said Robert Smith, Director of Physical Plant.
Crews are expected to finish renovations on August 14 - just before students return to class.
