Moneta, VA- There is now a way for you to rough it in Bedford County in style. It's called Glamping, and it's a trend popping up all over.
You get the experience of camping without all the hard stuff. You don't have to pitch a tent or break a sweat.
Camp Karma is all about primitive camping. Their basic set up includes a picnic table, a fire ring and a place to hang your lantern.
"We're basically going after tent people, people with small pop-ups," said Eric LaBorie, Co-Owner of Camp Karma.
Now Eric LaBorie is adding glam to one of his sites at Camp Karma.
"What we've done is we've set up a site we call it primitive glamping," said LaBorie.
There is very little back bending in this type of camping.
"You call us up and just show up. That's it. We give you firewood, a bag of ice. All you have to bring is something to sleep in," said LaBorie.
The site comes with this hotel-like tent large enough to fit six people. Inside it has two cots for couples or parents with their kids, plus a little sitting area. They even supply you with utensils, cups, and flatware.
LaBorie isn't the only one cashing in on Glamping. We found several resort and destination hot spots that offer Glamping.
This high end Glamping spot in New York cost about $2,000 a night. LaBorie's Glamp won't set you back that much. It's only $75 a night.
But LaBorie says his real reason for jumping on the Glamping bandwagon is to get more people into camping.
"It's an introduction back into camping which has moved away from a whole generation," said LaBorie.
LaBorie has only offered Glamping for a month, and it's already a big hit. Tourists from places like D.C. and Richmond are coming to enjoy the experience. If it does well LaBorie wants to offer more Glamping sites.
