Officials Release Name of Possible Drowning Victim

Update 11:15 a.m.:

Amherst Co., VA - The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries has released the name of the man who apparently drowned Tuesday night at Sweet Briar College.

Officials say Ronald Ferguson, 56, was fishing with another man when one of them stood up in the boat and it capsized.

There were no life jackets.

Ferguson's body was pulled out of the pond at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The medical examiner's office is conducting an autopsy.

The other man was able to swim to shore.

Amherst County, VA - The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries is investigating a possible drowning near Sweet Briar College.

Officials say two people were fishing in a pond at the end of Boathouse Road when their boat capsized.

The sheriff's office got the call around 10p.m. Tuesday night.

They eventually found the body of a man in his 50's in the water.

The body has been sent to the medical examiner's office.
