Update 5:30 p.m.:
Salem, VA - Daytime detours on Interstate 81 in Montgomery County are a thing of the past IF everything goes according to plan.
VDOT says construction crews will continue blasting in the median Monday through Thursday, but hope to use rolling roadblocks instead of the detour.
That is unless there are some issues that come up that would force VDOT to use the detour again.
Nighttime detours will continue, possibly through the fall, to finish bridge work in the same area.
Roanoke, VA - If you're in the downtown Roanoke area this week you need to watch for a major detour.
The city has closed Franklin Road between Elm Avenue and Second Street because of construction work being done on the Poff Federal Building.
A large crane has been brought in to help on the $51 million renovation.
The detour will be in effect through Thursday.
