Appomattox, VA - Gleaning for the World sent a tractor trailer full of supplies to help victims of Tropical Storm Debby Wednesday.
Volunteers loaded food, water and other supplies. Florida's panhandle was hit hard by flooding and wind damage caused by the storm.
Plans to send another truck to Florida are in the works.
Communication Director Jessica Shadel says it's always important to help those in need because disasters can happen to anyone.
"Just because it doesn't affect people necessarily right here at this time doesn't mean it won't happen in the future. We just wanna rally around the people who need the help," she said.
Shadel says Gleaning is ready to help with any disaster they can. The summer months keep them busy with hurricane season and wildfires.
Gleaning is also loading two shipments to Colorado. They're asking people for donations to help the wildfire victims.
