Danville, VA - The Dan River may soon get a new distinction.
Representatives from the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation plan to visit Danville to determine if it will become one of "Virginia's Scenic Rivers."
Danville wants a 14 mile stretch from the Berry Hill Bridge to the Abreu-Grogan Park on the list.
They say this area has the most potential to get them in.
"Once you are part of the 'Scenic River' listing, that's advertised on various websites and we think it will bring more people to Danville to see what we have to offer here," said Karen Cross, director of outdoor recreation.
If the river does become a 'Scenic River', it will be the first in the city.
The representatives will be in Danville on July 6. We will be sure to keep you updated on what they decide.
