Update: Fire in Danville Ruled Arson


Update 7:49 p.m.:

 Danville, VA - The Danville Fire Marshal's office has ruled the fire Wednesday on Wooding Avenue an arson. 

They say after a man refused to answer his door, a fire started inside the home.

Police say family members warned the man could harm himself. Fire crews and Danville life saving crew were called before 4 p.m. Officers say after the fire started, the man came out of the house and drank what appeared to be bleach.
He is in police custody and was transported to Danville Regional Medical center for a mental evaluation and treatment. Police say he's in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
There are no charges at this time. 
The fire destroyed one bedroom and left smoke damage elsewhere. The Red Cross is assisting the man.

Danville, VA - A fire in Danville today has sent one person to the hospital.

Emergency crews responded to the 200 block of Wooding Avenue Wednesday night.

Both Police and the Fire Department were on the scene.

As of now, the fire has been put out. There is no word on the condition of the victim.
