Lexington, VA - A former Rockbridge High School football star died serving our country just three days after arriving in Afghanistan.
Chase Prasnicki's former football coach says he died Wednesday evening after his humvee rolled over an explosive device.
Coach Jason White says the former quarterback was a hard worker and a leader, both on and off the field.
After graduating in 2006, Prasnicki went on to play for West Point.
He was stationed in Germany just prior to his death.
A candlelight vigil is being held in his honor Thursday at 8:30 p.m. on Rockbridge High School's football field.
